GERRY FFRENCH

We have lost a wonderful musician, voice, wordsmith, art teacher and friend in Gerry Ffrench.

Gerry performed since her teens and drew on inspiration from her Irish heritage, local and world events passed and present for her wonderful thought rendering songs, but don't forget there was always a few that made you laugh.

Over the years Gerry has performed at folk clubs, festivals, charity concerts throughout the country and abroad. She has travelled to the Netherlands and the west coast of Ireland with Yesterday’s Men to Shanty Festivals where she performed solo and with Harry Lowrey and Arthur Garnett.

Over the past eight years she has toured with Harry Lowrey by her side on guitar, concertina and banjo. For the past five years Gerry was involved with The Liverpool Folk Collective which also included, Keith Price, Tippin' It Up, Yesterday’s Men and occasionally Vocal Point, who helped organise and perform at various charity concerts for Zoe's Place, Maggies, Woodlands Hospice Marie Curie and Lancaster Cancer, raising much needed money for each charity. In 2017 Gerry was successful at The Costa del Folk Showcase in Portugal which gave her a spot at the same festival in Ibiza the following year.

We will miss Gerry's music, songs, humour, friendship and her ability to mesmorise us with her wonderful songs.

So rest in peace Gerry and let your music keep our spirits high.
