Phil hails originally from
Lancashire, and sang around folk clubs in the North of England during
the late 60s and early 70s, including the MSG in Manchester.
In May 2008 he returned
permanently to the UK folk scene after 30 years in exile (10 years in
Ireland and 20 years in New Zealand), and has been making an impression
around festivals and clubs in the North of England.
Richard Grainger says of
Phil …
‘We really think Phil Drane would be an asset to any festival or club
billing. He is everything you expect but rarely find in the folk singer
of today……. Phil was booked at Festival on the Moor in 2007 and we
were delighted to have him among us again at the Ryedale Folk Weekend in
2008. A big hit both times!“
In
2008, among other bookings Phil will be featuring at Ryedale
Folk Weekend; Osmotherley Gathering; Kirkby
Fleetham FC; Otley Folk Club; Stockton on Tees FC; Acoustic Roots,
Castleton; The Bunker FC, Auckland. He is also a fringe performer at Middlewich
Boat & Folk Festival, Shepley Folk Festival and Saddleworth Folk
Festival, and you could expect him to turn up at one of your club’s
Singers Nights too!

Phil is available for concert, festival and club bookings
